Junior Soldiers

In The Salvation Army we believe that children can decide that they want to live for Jesus, and that they then have the same need to be discipled as do adults. We have a program designed to do just that. It is open to any child aged seven to twelve who truly wants to learn about God and to 'stand up for Jesus' at home and at school.

Some children, once they decide to live for Jesus, want to become members of His Church. In The Salvation Army that means that they can, with parental consent, become Junior Soldiers. The discipleship program is particularly appropriate for their spiritual development.

The program involves Bible teaching, some teaching about The Salvation Army, activities to do, badges to earn, and games to play. Children are encouraged to talk about their faith, how it affects their behaviour, and also to pray together. A strong emphasis is placed on how 'standing up for Jesus' means learning new attitudes and changing behaviour.
